Annual Planning and Review Meeting of AZEECON was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 5 to 6 December. A total of six members of the network Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Nepal participated in the meeting.
The program that began with welcome speech by Dr Salima Rahaman, director of RDRS Bangladesh was followed by country presentations. During the presentation, communication coordinator of RDRS said that the year 2011 remained unusually quiet in terms of disaster and emergency situations as no severe disasters occurred in Bangladesh or the RDRS working area.
Similarly, LWF Nepal shared its experience on disaster related work and formation of Act Alliance Nepal Forum. It shared that how Act Alliance Nepal Forum, its members and LWF Nepal are jointly working on several disaster related work. Likewise, CDRM&CDS, LWF Myanmar and Life With Dignity and LWSIT also shared about their work.
Representative from FinChurchAid highlighted about its focus on education during emergency. It shared that it has special focus on education during emergency situations so that children continue school even during hard time.
AZEECON, established in 1997, aims to promote more active participations of its members in emergency and environment work through the strengthening of capacities of involved staff.
